Protect Your Brain

I ran across a couple of interesting articles this morning. In Medical News Today they reported on a study that suggests certain drugs may increase the risk of dementia. On they reported on studies that are exploring the relationship between exercise and Alzheimer's disease. In the first they write about the potential relationship between a class of drugs called anticholinergics and increased rates of dementia. In the second they suggest that 30 minutes of exercise, 5 days per week may reduce or delay Alzheimer's. they suggest that with a better understanding they could lead to treatment programs that include exercise and new drugs that mimic the effects of exercise. What's wrong with just doing what both studies indicate? Exercise is indicated a beneficial in so many ways and we continue to witness side effects of pharmaceuticals, both indicated on the disclosures and newly discovered in practice.
