30 minutes of exercise 6 days a week can extend your life 5 years
The health news today is buzzing about A Norwegian study published in the British Medical Journal. It reports 30 minutes of exercise 6 days a week reduces the risk of death 40%. Another statement is the life is extended 5 years.
So does all this mean that if I start exercising in old age, I will live longer? Nah, I doubt that is what it means. I think the safest bet is to exercise on a lifelong basis and start now. I've described myself and an intermittent exercise nut. I get committed and work out for 3 to 6 months at a time and then slack off for an equal period of time. I guess I need to stop doing that. One thing the really helps me is an accountability group. If I put myself out there and share what my goals and progress are, I'm a lot more likely to follow through.
